项目摘要

日本は周囲を海で囲まれているため、国際貿易で陸路トラック輸送を使うことが不可能であり、たとえ近隣の国との貿易でも、航空輸送か海上輸送かの選択を迫られることになる. 金額ベースでは、現在、輸出入ともに30%近くが航空貨物による貿易であるが、近年、日本周辺のアジア諸国との航空貨物貿易では資本財の重要性が急速に増大している.これは、日本企業が部品を海外に供給する場合でも、海外から部品類を調達する場合でも、航空輸送の効率が日本の競争力に大きく影響することを示唆している. 日本の製造業は高度な資本財生産においてますます強みを増しているが、日本における効率的な航空輸送システムは、今後の日本の機械工業の生産性を大きく左右すると考えられる.本研究では、日本の貿易相手国別・品目別の貿易指数データベースの開発実績を基礎とし、研究代表者が開発したソフトウェアを用いて2005~2007年分の日本の貿易指数データベースを作成した. データベースはHS9桁コードでのデータであり、これを用いることで空輸による資本財貿易に関わる数量指数、価格指数、金額が算出可能となった.これによって、これまでほとんど着目されてこなかった資本財貿易と航空輸送との関連に関する定量的な分析を行った. 品目別の航空貨物への依存度を見ると、資本財、特に電気・電子機器での航空貨物への輸出入の依存度は、近年70%近くに達している. 単位重量当り単価との関係では、輸出入ともに1kg当り単価が500円以下では海上コンテナ貨物等がほとんどだが、単価が30,000円を超えると逆にほとんどが航空貨物による輸送となるなど、両者の関係には緩い相関関係があるが、これを定量的に把握した. こうした研究成果の一部は、平成20年度の通商白書にも図表と共に引用されている.
