自己開示をすることにより開示者は精神的健康を得られるが, その一方で開示の受け手は, 精神的負担感が高まることがある。この負担感をいかにして低減するかが、自己開示、ひいては円滑な対人関係を促進することにつながる。そこで本研究では、視点取得の種類によって自己開示の受け手の精神的負担感が異なることを確認した。さらに受け手に類似相談経験があったり、開示に応答を行なう必要があったりすると、精神的負担感が高くなることも示された。
