BNラットの空腸食道吻合により、バレット食道・食道腺癌が発生した。食道粘膜炎症部ではPGE2が増加しており、COX-2およびmPGES-1、EP4受容体の発現が増強していた。また酸逆流により喘息ラットにおける好酸球を主体とした気道炎症増強およびTh2系サイトカイン発現増加が確認された。一方、正常ヒト食道扁平上皮細胞に混合胆汁酸を曝露させることで、腸上皮化生のマーカーであるCdX2誘導が惹起された
