新しい住宅地開発プロジェクト、神戸・ガーデンシティ舞多聞の実践と、本研究の指針とした、E・ハワードの田園都市思想とガーデンシティ、それらの系譜にみるコミュニティのフィールドワークを同時進行的に行うことにより、将来の持続可能なコミュニティの創出・再生を目指す居住環境計画に対する、「特有価値を持つ空間デザインを生み出す手法」「コミュニティ形成を促す方策」「空間とコミュニティを持続・向上させるエリアマネジメントの仕組み」の指針を導き出した。
