研究の目的1韓国人の商業中心地の鍾路と、日本人の商業中心地の本町は、はたして韓国人のみないしは、日本人のみの商業社会であったか。このような特殊な状況である点に留意しながら、戸籍を通じて都市空間における構成員と、それに伴う商業空間の実態に関する具体的な検討を行うことである。2日本と韓国における近代商業空間について比較考察する。3ソウルの繁華街における一つの社会としての商業空間の特質、さらにソウルの都市空間固有の構造を明らかにすることである。研究の成果1平成20年度に引き続き、「漢城府戸籍」の資料をデータ化した。2海外の現地調査及び資料調査の必要がある。平成21年度は、現地調査及び韓国関連資料を収集のうち、資料を重点的に行い、これらの調査は近代商業空間の特徴において比較資料として活用できた。4平成19・20年度にかけて調査や資料に基つき、ソウルの都市空間における商業空間の実態を具体的に検討を行った。その成果としては、近代日本の都市と植民地都市のソウルを絡めて、すなわち日本の六大都市と京城を都市近代化におれる同一の要素として扱って考察した。日本を通じて持ち込まれた西洋からの新しい業種が登場するという近代的な資本主義の商業社会への都市空間の変化を明らかにした。
