日系アメリカ人リドレス運動とその後の課題を事例とし、異なるマイノリティ集団間の連帯構築のプロセスを明らかにするために、本年度は以下の研究を行った。まず、去年度の継続として、カリフォルニア州の日系アメリカ人コミュニティにおける強制収容の語りの変遷を考察するために、コメモレイション・イベントを調査した。他方で、社会運動論に関する理論研究を行い、集合的アイデンティティ慨念を用いて、日系アメリカ人と在米日系ペルー人によるリドレス運動を検討した。さらに、集合的アイデンティティ形成の基盤としての集合的記憶と、アイデンティティ構築の重要なプロセスとしての過去と現在の「語り」という視座を取り入れた。最後に、ここまでの日系アメリカ人と在米日系ペルー人を対象とした調査と、社会運動論研究の成果とを踏まえて、研究全体を通して次のような課題をあらためて設定した。その問いとは、リドレス運動の政治過程と、運動の象徴的・文化的側面の相互作用から、日系人リドレス運動の意義を再評価することである。この課題に沿って、次のi)運動をとおしてのアイデンティティ形成過程の特徴、は、ii)運動における制度形成とアイデンティティ形成とのあいだの相互作用、iii)運動をとおして形成されたアイデンティティの内容の三つの論点に沿って、今までの調査分析の結果に再度丹念な考察を加えた。これらの考察の結果として、日系というエスニック・アイデンティティの再構築とそれに基づくコミュニティの再建、マイノリティ・ポリティクスという文脈におけるポテンシャルの点を明らかにすることで、リドレス運動の成果と限界を提示した。これらの成果は、国内の文化研究専門学会、ならびにアメリカ合衆国での社会学会で報告を行ったとともに、「日系アメリカ人リドレス運動の展開過程--集合的アイデンティティと制度形成」という題目で博士論文を作成し、博士号を獲得した。

This year, we will conduct the following research on the following topics: In the past year, the Japanese government has been investigating the situation of forced labor.
