I surveyed 2647 students at 14 universities and reported the results to the Japan Society of Educational Sociology. I have developed four main views about university education as follows. First, a university,s charter has an educational effect. Second, universities are important as places for initiation into adult society (rite of passage). Third, university classes help build basic occupational ability. Fourth, it is important for a university to play a role in the community.

我对 14 所大学的 2647 名学生进行了调查，并将结果报告给日本教育社会学学会。我对大学教育提出了以下四种主要观点。首先，大学章程具有教育作用。其次，大学作为进入成人社会（成人仪式）的重要场所。第三，大学课程有利于基础职业能力的培养。第四，大学在社会中发挥作用很重要。
