重要薬疹においては、制御性T細胞(Treg)とエフェクターT細胞(Teff)の相互関係がその臨床型、重症度を決める最大の要因である。そのためTregの機能を如何に高めるかが治療が成功するかどうかの鍵となる。本研究により、最も予後の悪い中毒性表皮壊死症(TEN)の治療として最も有用である血漿交換が、Tregのフコース転移酵素VII(Fuc-TVII)の発現を高めることによりTregを局所に遊走させ病変を治癒に向かせる可能性が明らかになった。
