木材を活用した環境学習教材、プログラムを開発して実践を行った。木材学習を、環境教育として位置づける学習プログラムとして3つ開発した:(1)割り箸から木材の違いや性質を知るプログラム、(2)木材ブロックの浮力実験を通じて、木の性質の違いを学ぶ、(3)木材組織写真つきのサイコロ作成から木材組織の構造を学ぶ。プログラムを小、中学生、高校生、一般を対象に実施した結果、高い評価が得られ、プログラムの有効性が示された。
