本研究は、日仏伊三カ国を対象に、公的金融機関(概ね日本の郵貯=大蔵省資金運用部に相当)が、第二次大戦後から現代に至る政治秩序の形成と変容の過程においてどのような役割を果たしたのかを分析した。研究成果は英仏邦語で論文・学会ペーパーなどの形で発表され、得られた知見は広く国際的に発信された。結論として、公的金融機関の資金配分パタンと、その資金・事業の「受け皿」となる地元のネットワークのあり方の違いによって、日仏伊三カ国の戦後保守一党支配体制の命運の違いが説明できることを示すことができた。
