グラファイト(グラフェン)における量子干渉効果のうち、[1]状態密度および電気伝導度における欠陥による量子効果(非自明な指数をともなう低次元量子臨界現象の発現)[2]欠陥のまわりの局所状態密度(あたらしい共鳴状態の発見およびSTM実験への予言)に関して知見を得た。さらには、ノード的準粒子の発現は、グラファイト(グラフェン)のみならず2次元d波超伝導をはじめとした近年注目を集めている新奇な超伝導体、さらには有機導体をはじめとしたいくつかの強く相互作用する電子系でもその可能性が提案されている。それらを念頭に分野横断型の分析を発展させた。
