脳病態時におけるエンドセリンの役割について、脳浮腫関与因子の一つであるアクアポリン(AQP)の発現および機能変化に着目して研究をおこない、エンドセリンがin vivoおよびin vitroにおいてアストロサイトのAQP発現を抑制することを明らかにし、さらにエンドセリンが脳浮腫の発生を抑制する可能性を示した。
