项目摘要

本研究の目的は、ペルー北海岸において今から約千年前に栄えた国家シカンの首都・シカン遺跡を対象とし、これまで中央政権の形成・発展・崩壊のプロセスによって定義されてきたシカン成立から終焉まで約500年間の“支配者たちの歴史”を、首都の北部周縁地帯（ワカ・アレーナ）に暮らしていたと考えられている平民たちの日常生活に注目することによって被支配者の視点から見直すことにあった。研究方法としては、①測量調査による基本地形図製作と②地中レーダー探査による埋蔵物の識別と地図化によって遺跡内の空間配置を明らかにし、③地表面の観察と遺物採集の結果を参考にしながら遺跡を小区画に分け、それぞれの特徴を明らかにする。その上で、④各区画内での考古学発掘調査と⑤出土遺物や発掘データの分析を段階的に実施することによって、上に述べた被支配者たちの諸活動とその通時的変遷をとらえることを目標とした。採用第一年度（平成29年度）には、上記の①～③を実施し、ワカ・アレーナが一定期間、一般居住区として機能していたことが確認できた。また、地中レーダー探査により、興味深い特徴的な反射波が見つかり、今後の発掘区の選定および設定に大いに役立つ情報が得られた。さらに、探査結果を評価するために行った試掘では、老齢女性の遺体が見つかった。埋葬体位も副葬品の位置も、シカンに先行するモチェ文化の埋葬様式に則ったものであった。採用第一年度の調査終了後、次年度（平成30年度）における目標として、①追加測量による遺跡基本地形図の精緻化、②コア・ボーリングによる地中レーダー探査結果の補完、③埋葬が見つかった発掘区の拡張および簡易発掘、の三つを挙げた。採用第二年度の調査ではこれらの三つの目標をすべて達成できた。発掘によって共伴土器の様式から、上記のモチェ様式の墓が中期シカン期に作られたものであることが明らかになったのはとくに重要である。

The purpose of this study is to identify the historical relics of the capital city of the country from about 1,000 years ago to the present, and to define the history of the rulers of the country from the establishment to the end of about 500 years.
