2022年度は、主に以下の3点について研究をすすめた。第一に、①少年教護院長会議録の他、②全国児童保護大会議事録および社会事業大会議事録（児童保護、少年教護、障害児保護に関連する箇所）における少年教護問題および障害児問題に関する議論や建議、③『少年教護院調査要項』のほか、大阪府『少年教護施設拡充計画案』(1934年)、『児童保護』『社会事業』『社会事業研究』などの雑誌、②大阪修徳学院や国立武蔵野学院所蔵資料のうち、児童鑑別や院内での特別な教育指導に関係する論文・記事・調査等科学的な児童鑑別に基づく分類処遇と少年教護院内での特別な教育の実態、について整理を行った。第二に、①科学的児童鑑別のオピニオンリーダーであった池田千年（兵庫県立農工学校長・精神科医）の児童鑑別論、②大阪府や国立武蔵野学院における少年教護院改革案、戦後まもなく少年保導法案を提案した熊野隆治（大阪修徳学院長・国立武蔵野学院長）を中心とした特殊少年教護院構想を検討した。第三に、本研究を通して「寝食をともにする集団生活で追求された『独立自営（じりつ）』のあり方を現代的な教育課題に引き付けて検討し、寝食を共にする集団生活（生活教育）をベースとした「じりつ」像を仮説的に示した。具体的には、少年教護院では職員（教護・保母）と児童が小舎あるいは寄宿舎で寝食を共にする集団生活の中で独立自営をめざしていた点をふまえ、現代的な自立論の一環として、寄宿舎での生活教育とじりつ（自立と自律）のあり方、および職員の果たす役割に関する論文を公表した。
