Present status and problems of franchise contracts regulations in Japan and the U.S.

In the U.S., more than a dozen states have "Franchise Laws".They regulate unfair practices related to franchise contracts. We could learn their experiences and have to develop sound franchise system. Therefore, first, franchise disclosure act including private action must be enacted. Second, we have to establish franchise relationship law which prevents franchisors from imposing some burden on franchisees unilaterally and ensures sharing their profits between franchisors and franchisees by regulating franchise contracts and franchise relationship problems after contract.
