We evaluated anti-adenoviral activity of candidate agents in vitro. Among interferons, both interferon beta and gamma showed significant antiviral effect on adenovirus. LL-37, an antimicrobial peptide, also had antiadenoviral activity on all types except for type 4.These results suggest that these agents might be used safely for treatment of human adenoviral conjunctivitis in the near future.
