本研究の目的は、十七世紀フランスにおいて「神秘主義」と「反神秘主義」という二つの思想潮流がいかなる緊張関係にあったかを明らかにしながら、それが個々の神秘家の思想にどのような影響を与えたのかを問うこと、そしてそれを通じて、抑圧的側面を強調しがちな従来の近代宗教史理解を包括的に捉えなおすことにあった。とくに、十七世紀最大の神秘家と言われながらいまだに研究の蓄積が少ないイエズス会士ジャン=ジョゼフ・スュランを研究の焦点に据えた。研究一年目には、主としてミシェル・ド・セルトーをはじめとする先行研究を整理検討し、あるべき方法論の確立に努めた。神秘主義をめぐる思想史的背景にとどまらず、その社会的拡がりまで視野に入れることの意義を示し、一般信徒たちの実践や心性の次元まで目をやる新しい宗教史的視座に立つことで、神秘家(スュラン)のテクストにみられる神秘主義とそれに対する異議申し立ての潮流との緊張関係を、よりダイナミックに捉える可能性を提起したのである。本研究を総括する本年度は、引き続き十七世紀フランス神秘主義という問題系を近代宗教史の中でどう捉えるかという大枠の問題を継承しながら、スュランという神秘家のテクストのより精緻な読み込みを通じて、その「神秘主義」思想の成熟が「反神秘主義」の動向といかなる緊張関係にあったかを具体的に明らかにすることを試みた。当初から重点を置いていた『書簡集』に加え、彼の自伝的テクストである『体験の学知』についても詳細に検討することができた。これらの過程で少なくとも次のことが明らかにされた。すなわち、スュランにおける神秘主義は、従来の一般的な理解に反して、共同性や社交性というテーマと不可分であること、近代の黎明期に台頭した反神秘主義の潮流によって完全に抑圧されたわけではないこと、その創造的側面は、テクスト批判と並行して彼のイエズス会士としての活動と人的交流の足跡をより一層丁寧に辿ることで浮かび上がってくるはずだということである。なお、2010年6月30日から2011年3月22日まで、日本学術振興会の「優秀若手研究者海外派遣事業」の助成を受け、パリ・イエズス会神学部(Centre Sevres-Facultes jesuites de Paris)において本研究課題の下に在外研究を遂行する機会を得た。この滞在によって、本邦では入手困難な各種一次資料を入手することができたばかりでなく、本国フランスの学会とのコンタクトを通じて本研究の独創性を確かめ、今後期すべきさらなる研究の展開についても多くの示唆を受けた。

The purpose of this study is to emphasize the tension between mysticism and anti-mysticism in the 17th century and the understanding of modern religious history. The greatest mystery of the 17th century is the accumulation of information. A year's research is needed to establish a methodology for the study. In the beginning, the key points were set in the "Book Collection", and the self-contained information was added to the "Body and Knowledge". The process is less complicated than the process. This research is difficult to start with in China, and it is difficult to start with all kinds of primary data in China. It is necessary to ensure the originality of this research and to carry out research in the future.
