従来より、自身が視覚障害を持ちながら教師として雇用されている者は、特殊学級においてやはり視覚障害を持つ生徒に対して教育に従事すると思われている。しかし、ネパールではそのような教師が通常の学校において視覚障害を持たない生徒に対して教育を行っている割合が高く、また奨励されていることが判明している。視覚障害を持つ教師に安定した収入を得させ、障害への恥じらいを減じることにより、教育の現場ではそのような教師の存在が障害を持たない生徒の視覚障害者に対する理解を増進することになるのである。視覚障害を持つ教師から教育を受けることが生徒にどのような経験を及ぼすか、またそのような経験の有無が生徒の能力に影響を与えるのか否かを測定するため、本研究の調査実施計画を策定した。この調査の目的は、視覚障害を持つ教師がそうでない教師と同等のパフォーマンスを有するのかを観察することにあり、昨年度より引き続いてネパールにおいて、異なる地域の学校において約3,600人の生徒と約200人の教師に対してアンケート調査を行った。また"囚人のジレンマ"等のゲーム理論に関わる実験も実施した。今年度は主に、その調査結果をいくつかの論文に取りまとめることに集中した。economics of education reviewに投稿した論文は、レフェリーのコメントを受けて改訂中である。Disability and Societyに投稿した論文はオンライン版に掲載された。Scandinavian Journal of Disability Researchに投稿した論文は、現在最終の審査中である。また、ハワイ大学で開催されたAnnual pacrim conference on disabilitiesにおいては、プレゼンテーションを行った。
