项目摘要

以下、平成23年度の主な研究成果である二本の雑誌論文の内容を中心に、実績の報告を行うこととする。一本目は、『言語態』第11号に掲載された論考「幻想演劇と「俯瞰」の主題について」である。これは、ひと言でいうならば、「研究実施計画」に記しておいた問い-「悪魔が知の探求者を誘惑する際には、なぜ高所が特権的な舞台背景として、作家たちによって好んで描かれるのか?」という問い-に、説得的な解答を提示せんとする試みであった。具体的な作業としては、悪魔が高所において智者を誘惑するシーンを含む二作品-バイロンの『カイン』とフロベールの『聖アントワーヌの誘惑』-の比較・精読を行うことで、「じつは高所もそれ自体、知を提供する一種の誘惑装置としての機能を果たし得るのだ」という事実を明るみに出している。なお、上記二作品はいずれも本研究の中心テーマである「幻想演劇のカテゴリーに組み入れて論ずることのできる形而上学的な戯曲なのだが、とりわけ原文が英語で書かれているバイロンの作品を議論の俎上に載せたことで、本研究の射程は、当初の「研究の目的」の通りに、フランス語圏の外側にまで拡大されることとなっている。もう一本の論考は、『言語情報科学』に掲載された「幻想演劇形式の理論と実践」である。この論文の原型は、平成22年秋に行われた日本フランス語フランス文学会での口頭発表であるが、その内容は、学会後に様々な方面から頂戴した批判や助言を可能なかぎり取り入れつつ、大幅に練り直されている。具体的な成果としては、サンドの『竪琴の七弦』、ゲーテの『ファウスト』、バイロンの『マンフレッド』、ネルヴァルの『ニコラ・フラメル』、キネの『アースヴェリュス』といった多彩な幻想演劇作品群の比較を行うことで、この文学形式で書かれた作品がほぼ同一の構造を備えていることを指摘し得た、ということが挙げられる。
