Institutional advantage of multinational corporations

本研究的目的是运用社会学的制度理论来阐明跨国公司的决策问题。本研究分析了东道国或地区对日本子公司绩效的影响。结果表明，东道国的效应与产业的效应是一致的。此外，本文还考察了影响跨国公司进入和退出决策的原因。作为重要的发现，本研究报告了跨国公司的决策受到竞争对手的影响。这些结果表明，社会学的方法对于国际研究是非常重要的。

The aim of this study is to clarify the decision-making of multinational corporations (MNC) by using the institutional theory of sociology. This study analyze the effects of host country or area on performance of Japanese subsidiaries. The results show that the effect of host country is the same as that of industry. In addition, I examine the causes which affect the entry and exit decision of MNCs. As the important findings, this study reports the decision of MNCs is affected by that of competitors. These results suggest that the approach by sociology is very important for international studies.
