Social relations for long-term care prevention among community-dwelling elderly people

本研究的目的是确定在日本社区居住的老年人与社会关系的因素相关的功能残疾的风险。该研究表明，社会角色的高地位与老年人功能性残疾的风险适度降低有关。在仅与配偶生活的老年人中，除了共同生活的家庭成员外，没有情感社会支持与功能残疾的风险相关。我们需要一种将社会关系考虑在内的评估，以适当识别与功能性残疾相关的风险。

The purpose of this study was to identify the risk of functional disability associated with factors of social relations in community-dwelling older adults in Japan. The study suggested that high status of social role was associated with a moderately lower risk of functional disability in older adults. No emotional social support except for family members of living together was associated with a risk of functional disability in elderly people living with their spouse only. We need an assessment that takes social relations into consideration to appropriately identify the risks related to functional disability.
