The present research continues the development of an international research project on modern Japanese culture, which has been conducted until now by the Research Center for Modern & Contemporary Japanese Culture at the Nagoya University Graduate School of Letters to which the representative scholars and research members belonged; it aims examine internationally the issue of trans-cultural and trans-lingual translation and to reconsider this issue as a problem of “trans-frontier culture and translation.” In the 2011 academic year, an international symposium was held in Shangai entitled Traversing Cultural and Media Boundaries: Translation and Transmedia and interdisciplinary research was conducted on the problems of translation. In 2012, applying the results of 2011, we aimed to further restructure this issue within the framework of research on East Asian relations studies, holding an international symposium entitled Towards Studies of East Asian Relations, thus making possible the international and interdisciplinary study of “trans-frontier culture and translation.”

本研究继续开展一项关于现代日本文化的国际研究项目，该项目迄今为止一直由名古屋大学文学研究生院的现代和当代日本文化研究中心进行，代表性学者和研究成员属于该中心;它旨在从国际上审视跨文化和跨语言翻译问题，并将此问题作为一个“跨国界文化与翻译”的问题重新加以考虑。2011学年，在上海举办了题为“穿越文化和媒体边界：翻译和跨媒体”的国际研讨会，并就翻译问题进行了跨学科研究。2012年，我们将2011年的研究成果应用于东亚关系研究的框架内，进一步调整了这一问题，举办了题为“走向东亚关系研究”的国际研讨会，从而使“跨国界文化与翻译”的国际跨学科研究成为可能。
