项目摘要

平成24年度の中心課題は、ジャン=ジャック・ルソーにおける哲学的方法論の解明および18世紀フランス啓蒙思想期における経験主義哲学研究であった。まず、『化学教程』においてルソーが着想を得た世界観が後の思想展開にどのように関係しているかを『サヴォワ助任司祭の信仰告白』(『エミール』第四巻所収)を用いて検討した。その結果、『化学教程』で得られたエピステモロジーが『人間不平等起源論』『エミール』といった作品に息づいており、唯物論者ドルバックとの決裂も個人間の問題からというよりも、エピステモロジーの違いに基づいていたということが明らかとなった。コンディヤックやドルバック、ビュフォンらの間で共有されていた啓蒙思想におけるプログレマティークとは別の次元の問いをルソーが提起していたということが明らかとなった。この点に関しては、ブリュッセル自由大学の18世紀研究所が発行している論集『Etudess sur le 18^e siecle』のルソー生誕300周年記念号に論文を掲載した。以上の問題から、ルソーの哲学的方法論について研究をおこなった。諸自然科学や新興の学問を総動員してルソーは自らの哲学・政治思想を構想した。そのとき、ルソーは〈方法論〉に重きをおいて自らの思索を深めていったと考えられる。この問題に関しては、日本でおこなわれたルソー生誕300年記念国際シンポジウムにて発表した。
