项目摘要

本研究では、2012年度からのほぼ三年間に、個々人の研究活動を基盤としつつ、三回の国内研究集会と三回の国際ワークショップを開催することで、共通認識を形成することに努めてきた。こうした過程を通じて、主題である19世紀前半のユーラシア大陸東南部（東南アジアを中心に、南アジアおよび東アジアを視野に入れた広域の関係性）における経済状況（実体経済と貨幣経済の交錯）の理解は深まってきたと考えている。以下、ポイントを略述する。第一に、当該時期にこの地域の経済は、インドおよび中国との間で行われた貿易から多大の影響を受けていたという点。第二に、19世紀後半に関するイギリスによる覇権の歴史像を、19世紀前半に持ち込むことは妥当ではなく、オランダ、スペイン、アメリカなどの影響も考慮に入れたウエスタン・インパクトを考える必要があるという点。第三に、19世紀前半（特に、第二四半世紀）を特徴づけるデフレの問題を考察することの重要性。なお、三点目であるが、このデフレ問題は、実体経済および貨幣経済の両側面から、検討された。特に、貨幣経済的な側面からの研究は、本プロジェクトの強みであり、上記国際ワークショップで招いた海外からの研究者（フォン・グラーン、イルゴイン）の研究と合わせて、貨幣供給および貨幣需要の両方の要因からバランス良く論じられている。本研究の成果は、2015年度に京都で開催される世界経済史会議におけるセッション（‘Deflation, money and commodities: Maritime Asia and its linkages to the Americas in the first half of the 19th century’）で発表される予定となっている。また、和文論集の刊行も予定されているが、こちらの方は2016年度以降に持ち越されることになろう。

In this study, the 2012 triennial, one people's research activity, three domestic research gatherings, three international research conferences, and common knowledge have formed an international research conference.
