Gathering and Analyzing of International Students' Narratives about the Process of Creating Japanese Learning Environment

本研究旨在收集国际学生关于他们日语学习经历的叙述，并调查他们如何创造自己的学习环境。对来自14个国家的31名在日本大学学习的国际学生进行了访谈。本文从学习资源的使用、语境和情感方面的变化以及语言学习视角三个方面对31个案例进行了分析。结果表明，留学生对自然地说日语有浓厚的兴趣，并观察他们的社会环境来理解日本人的思维方式。结果还表明，他们对外语学习有经验的见解和策略，形成了他们的学习环境。

This study aimed to gather international students' narratives about their Japanese language learning experiences and investigate how they have been creating their own learning environment. Interviews with 31 international students from 14 countries those who study in Japanese university were conducted. The narratives were compiled into 31 cases and analyzed in terms of use of learning resources, changes in context and affective aspects, and perspective on language learning. The results indicate that the international students have a strong interest in speaking Japanese naturally and observe their social environment to understand Japanese way of thinking. The results also indicate that they have empirical insights and strategies for foreign language learning which form their learning environment.
