Chlorierte Lösemittel und toxische Metallionen, z.B. Arsen, sind in Böden und Gewässern häufig anzutreffende Kontaminanten und stellen eine potentielle Gefährdung für den Menschen und die Umwelt dar. Für die Mobilität und den Abbau dieser Schadstoffe spielen Adsorption sowie chemische und mikrobielle Redoxreaktionen mit Eisen-mineralen und natürlichen, organischen Verbindungen (Huminstoffen) eine wichtige In diesem Forschungsprojekt soll die Bildung von reaktiven Eisen- und Huminstoffphasen bei der mikrobiellen Reduktion von Fe(III) und Huminstoffen sowie bei der nitratabhängigen und phototrophen Fe(II) -Oxidation untersucht werden. Die reaktiven Spezies sollen identifiziert, ihre Redoxeigenschaften quantifiziert und die Einflüsse von Elektronenmediatoren und Komplexbildnern auf die Bildung der reaktiven Spezies bestimmt werden. Die reduktive Transformation von As(V) und chlorierten Verbindungen durch mikrobiell gebildete, reaktive Eisen- und Huminstoff-Phasen und die Adsorption von Arsen und chlorierten Verbindungen an Huminstoffe sollen quantifiziert und auf mechanistischem Niveau verstanden werden.
