令和２年度は、研究対象地域である英国ロンドンでの現地調査を予定していたが、日本および英国における新型コロナウィルスの感染拡大により、渡航を断念せざるを得なかった。そのため、その支障をカバーするために研究計画を大幅に修正し研究活動を遂行した。まず今年度は、1・2年目に実施した小規模店舗の悉皆調査で得られた情報のうち、ブリクストン地区（以下Bx地区）のブリクストンヴィレッジ、Bx地区と同じくGFが進行しているロンドンフィールズ地区のブロードウェイマーケットを分析対象とし、GF進行地域に立地している消費空間の特徴や変化について比較分析を行った。統計情報やメディアの記事の分析を通じて、両消費空間の周辺環境やメディアの記事における両店舗群の位置づけを把握した。また現地で得た情報から、特にBx地区に関する知見として、当地区に多く暮らす西インド系・アフリカ系・ラテンアメリカ系住民向けの立地状況を確認し、2019年と2020年における店舗の入れ替わり状況を地図化することができた。この2つの地区における消費空間の比較分析の結果については、学会でのポスター発表を経た後、査読付論文として投稿し掲載された。また、前年から進めていたメディア分析が佳境を迎え、英国主要メディアの電子版記事の収集と内容分析を通じて、ロンドンにおいてGFの進行が認識されている地域の分布やロンドン各地のGFに関する言及内容を明らかにした。また令和2年度は、2つの英語論文を日本語に翻訳し、ともに翻訳論文として掲載された。1つは地域の「包容力」の醸成において重要な役割を果たしている消費空間（マーケット）に関する論文、もう1つは都市におけるGFの進行と移民の関係性に関する論文である。両論文では、GFの進行が低所得者層、社会的弱者、移民の生活に及ぼす影響に関して多くの知見が提示されており、日本国内でのGF研究への応用が期待される。
