项目摘要

本研究は、後期啓蒙と呼ばれる18世紀後半とくに七年戦争後の改革期の軍隊社会に関して理解を深めることを目的とする。今年度、芹生は、2020年に翻訳したルイ・セバスチャン・メルシエのテクスト（「戦争について」）の続編を翻訳した。同時期に軍隊の内外で議論された軍事に関する思想については今日研究が盛んであり、なかんずくその啓蒙的な側面が強調されているが、同テクストは、そのような動向と対をなす平和主義的なオピニオンの一例として注目される。また、フランス絶対主義研究会で、アンシアン・レジーム末期に展開した脱走兵の自主帰還促進策に関する研究報告を行ない、共同研究者である高澤氏また研究協力者である佐々木氏、正本氏らと意見交換をすることができた。同措置については従来あまり注目されることがなかったが、同時期の王権の政策のありようを映し出す試みとして分析に値すると考えられる。来年度史料調査を補完的に行い論文に完成させたい。さらに、前年度に提出した原稿に関する出版プロジェクトのなかで、カトリーヌ・ドニ氏とともに編集責任を果たされるバンジャマン・ドゥルエル氏と知己を得ることができた。今日において軍事史の新しい潮流を牽引する重要な歴史家のひとりであるドゥルエル氏は、現在カナダの大学で教鞭をとられているが、アメリカ大陸との研究者との研究のつながりを強化することを一つの目的とする本研究にとって有意義であった。来年度の研究の展開につながるような基盤をつくることができた。
