项目摘要

本研究は外国人日本語学習者が産出する日本語の発話・文章を、日本語母語話者がどのように受け取り評価しているかを、対人配慮、ポライトネスという観点から調査し分析することを目的とする。研究の性質上、日本語母語話者の産出する文の外国人学習者の理解の難しい用例や、外国人日本語学習者の産出した日本語が母語話者にインポライトネスとなる用例を収集し、それが真に日本語母語話者にとってインポライトネスと受け取られるものかをアンケート調査によって判断するという2段階の手順を踏む必要がある。2022年度は当初の計画通り、日本語母語話者の産出する文の外国人学習者の理解の難しい用例、外国人日本語学習者の産出した日本語が母語話者にインポライトネスとなる用例の収集を中心に研究を進めた。研究を通じて、外国人日本語学習者にとって理解や運用が困難と思われる事例を、策動性を持つ表現を中心に採取することができた。例えば、命令以外の言語形式を用いて命令を表す表現である。会社で上司がミスばかりする部下に対して「もう帰っていいから。」のような発話を行った場合、実質的には「もう帰れ。」に等しい機能を持つ。しかしながら、このような依頼の形の発話形式から命令という発話機能を推測することは容易ではない。また、聴者に対してFTAを生じさせることが多いとされる命令形が、ポライトネスを高めるストラテジーとして機能する場合も観察された。会社で、家族が倒れた等の連絡を受けた部下に対して、上司が「早く帰りなさい。」と述べることは、「早く帰った方がいいと思うよ。」「早く帰った方がいいんじゃないか。」のような表現よりも好ましいものとなる。策動性に関わる表現以外では、あいづち表現の日本語と英語との比較、ポライトネスストラテジーとして機能する日本語と英語のテンスの比較を行うなどした。
