本研究の目的は、日本語非母語話者による日本語で書かれたテキスト（文章）の読みの過程を明らかにするものである。読みの過程を知るために、できるだけ日本語非母語話者でも接すると考えられるテキストを収集する必要がある。今年度は、まず、次年度以降実施する予定であるテキストの読み過程を知る実験に使用するテキストを収集した。また、実験刺激のテキスト収集の作業と並行して、実験に使用する機器およびソフトウェアの設定および操作を習得することに努め、次年度以降効率的に実験が遂行できるよう準備を進めた。さらに、日本語のテキストの中には必ず現れる漢字語彙が、日本語学習者にとってどのように誤認される恐れがあるのか知るために、学習者がどのような漢字語彙を読み誤るかを非漢字系学習者に対して調査した。その結果、漢字の読み誤りには「妹」と「あね」と読んでしまうなど、同じカテゴリの別の語と混同してしまうケースが全体の読み誤りの10％程度、字形が類似した別の語と混同してしまうケースが1％弱あることがわかった。ただし、この調査では、あえて漢字の意味を推測できない程度の短い一文に含まれる漢字語彙の調査対象の語としたため、テキストの中で同じ語を問うとき、意味はより推測しやすくなると予想される。また、調査の対象は母語の書字形態に漢字がない、いわゆる非漢字系学習者であったが、漢字系学習者では異なる特徴がみられる可能性もある。さらに、日本語のテキストに含まれるのは、カタカナ表記の外来語もあるため、その意味理解についても調査したい。
