项目摘要

本研究では、大学生英語学習者が言語情報の検索ツールとして多用しているスマートフォンに焦点をあて、電子辞書との比較も試みながらモバイルディバイスの違いが学習効果に与えている影響を、彼らの検索行動を分析することで明らかにしていくことを目的としている。その上で、学習者の英語習熟度、これまでの辞書使用歴や辞書指導の経験などが、使用するディバイスの選択と検索行動にどのような影響を与えているのかを、インタビューデータ（言語データ）などから分析し、学習者要因を探ろうとしている。研究初年度のR4（2022）年は、基盤研究(C) 19K00777（2019年度～2022年度）で着手していた検索行動のビデオ分析について、先行予備実験（小山・薮越，2021）とは背景が異なる実験協力者を得て分析したデータを発表し、論文化して公表した。本研究では、参加者2名に2種類の問題をそれぞれ電子辞書とスマホで語彙・文法問題を解答してもらった。両名とも英語教員を目指す学部4回生であり、日常の英語学習では電子辞書を使用していたが、英語の基礎語彙量やTOEICのスコアなどに差があった。実験では、両名の解答時間に差は見られなかったが、語彙量が多くスコアが高いStudent Cのほうが多く語句を検索し、1週間後の検索語の再認率が高いという結果になった。この理由の探索を試みたビデオ分析からは、Student Cは既知の語句でも確認のため検索し、同時に電子辞書の用例などを有効に活用している様子が見られた。また、前年度より着手していた電子辞書やスマホ使用とWritingタスクとの関係についてもデータ分析して学会発表した。これは対面授業とオンライン授業での大学生の学習（検索）行動の変化の有無を調べようとした実験で、2つの状況下での学習者の検索ツールの選択や行動は異なるが、学習成果のWritingには違いは見られなかった。
