本研究は，器楽活動を中心に①幼児教育の場で行われる音に関わる活動がいかに音楽の本質を含んでいるか，②小学校音楽科の授業内容と幼児期の音にかかわる遊びとがどのように重なるのか，③幼児教育の中で得られる経験が小学校の学びにどのようにつながっているのか， この３点を明らかにし，それらの知見を基にして音楽の幼保小接続に関する理論モデルの構築を目指すものである。研究初年度である2022年度は、幼保小接続に関する研究動向を整理し，課題を整理したうえで，既収の事例の中から小学校低学年の器楽活動を中心に分析を行った。多くの小学校1年生にとって小学校で扱われる楽器の一般的な奏法は認識されているにもかかわらず，楽器の自由探索を促すような活動がみられた。その事例から，小学校で行う楽器の自由探索の意義について，①一つの楽器で奏でることのできる多様な音の認識につながり，演奏可能な音の選択肢を広げること，②楽器から生じた音に自分の経験を重ね合わせ，音からイメージを紡ぎだすこと，③楽器を通して他者を感じ，それに応じて自分も楽器を鳴らそうとするというような他者との密なコミュニケーションが可能になること，という3点を示すことができた。
