本研究は、日本の楷書筆順における行書系筆順の定着を決定づけた江戸期において、右字系筆順（ノ―）と左字系筆順（―ノ）の書き分けの実態を調査し、速度効率、運動効率だけでは説明できない筆順決定の合理性を明らかにしようとするものである。研究期間中には、調査結果を通史的に解釈し筆順史に位置づける予定である。２０２２年度は、現有の石川松太郎監修『往来物大系』全十巻（１９９２－１９９４）所収の往来物資料７５７点をもとに、各往来物の刊行期を整理し、右字系筆順字種（「右」「有」「布」）と左字系筆順字種（「左」「友」）のデータ整理のための枠組みを検討した（当初計画「１」）。また、草書にはその成り立ちの違いにより、楷書字形とかけ離れた字形と楷書字形を類推できる字形とがあるので、その区別を明確にするために、課題番号１９K０２６８３「日本の楷書筆順における行書系筆順の定着過程に関する研究」（２０１９～）で先行収集していた４０字種のうち、本研究課題に関連する「右」「有」「左」のデータをもとに、草書における書体区分、草書と行書の書体区分を明確にするためのスケール作成（当初計画「２」）の検討をした。さらに、該当字種の漢字を効率よく抜き出し（スキャンし）データを整理する作業方法を検討するとともに（当初計画「３」）、収集した漢字から運筆順序を抽出する方法について先述の課題番号１９K０２６８３「日本の楷書筆順における行書系筆順の定着過程に関する研究」での経験を参考にして検討した。
