本年度は,左利き児童の実態を踏まえた上での単位教材の作成,書字教材モデルの作成,予備的検証を以下の通りに実施した。1.文字の字形、文字の大きさ、文字の位置、書式(マス・縦罫・横罫)などの形式的な要素ごとに単位教材モデルを作成した。2.単位教材モデルをもとに、小学校第3学年及び第4学年を対象とした、文字習得に関わる教材、の配列・配置に関する教材、左手による筆記具の持ち方の改善に関する教材を作成した。ただし、左手による筆記具の持ち方の改善を図るための教材については、左利き児童の持ち方と書字姿勢のパターンが多様なため、典型的なモデルを作成するには至らなかった。3.大学生を対象に、書字教材モデルの有效性について、予備的検証を行った。その結果、文字習得に関わる教材、文字群の配列・配置に関する教材については、視認しやすい教材文字を配することの効果及び書式における横罫の優位性は確認できたが、その他の点については、右利き用のものと比して効果は確認できなかった。また、左手による筆記具の持ち方の改善を図るための教材については、データを処理に至らなかった。予備的検証において、視認しやすい文字の位置や書きやすい書式など、一般的な点での成果しか認められなかったのは、左利き者の書字特徴の捉えが不十分であったことを意味している。一人一人の実態にあわせた教材を提供するためにも、左利き児童の実態について、特に書字姿勢、筆記具の持ち方、書字行為(筆圧、書字方向、書字速度など)の実態に焦点化した再調査の実施と、その結果を踏まえた特徴の類型化が必要がある。
