本研究においては、「理系グローバル人材育成を目指す、高校生『国際共同課題研究』の教育効果と手法の考察」をテーマとしている。新しい学習観の中で注目されている探究型学力を目指す中で、高校生が海外生徒と共同研究を行うことで、グローバル資質も伸長させる教育を追求することに注目している。具体的には、以下の内容を研究の目的としている。①これまで「国際共同課題研究」に参加してきた生徒の成長の追跡調査、② 国際共同課題研究」を有効に行うための実践モデルの構築、③日本全国の高校生に向けて、より良い普及のためのシステムの開発。2022年度については、これまでの参加生徒（卒業生）の状況を知ることと、現状把握のために、国際共同課題研究を重視した取組が行われている学校への調査活動を行うことと、立命館高校を研究のフィールドとして、新たな国際共同課題研究プロジェクトに参画して、実践を行ってきた。学校調査においては、国内、海外の学校を調査し、それぞれの学校において、担当教員へのインタビュー等を行い、有益な情報を得ることができた。また、今後の研究における有効な関係つくりが行えた。立命館高校における実践では、海外校15校、国内校17校の参加を得て、半年間余りの実践に参画した。これまでにない、大きな規模での実践の中で、普及のための様々な知見を得ることができた。これらの内容を研究分担者、研究協力者と共有し、今後の研究の方向性に関しての議論を行い、今後2年間の研究について、その方向性をより具体化し、有益な成果への期待を得ることができた1年目の研究であった。
