本研究は、「火災」という脅威をモデルケースに、脅威に備える行動が社会の中でどのように維持されるかを社会・文化心理学の観点から解明しようとするものである。火災を起こさないためには日々の生活の中で様々なことに注意を払って火を管理する必要がある。火災は高頻度で生じる脅威ではないが、それゆえに注意を持続することは容易でなく、「うっかり」が発生する。本研究は、個人が単独で防火行動を持続するプロセスではなく、他者とのやり取りの中で持続させるプロセスに注目しており、防火行動が維持されやすい地域コミュニティの特徴の解明を目指している。2022年度には、長野県の3市町村で消防団員を対象としたアンケート調査を実施した。この調査では、消防団員に加えて、その団員の身近な人物（家族や友人）も対象とした。分析の結果、消防団員としての経験が長い人ほど日頃の防火に注意していることに加えて、非団員であっても、団員と火災関連の会話を多くする人は日頃の防火に注意していることが見出された。これは、防火行動が消防団員を介してコミュニティ内に広がることを示唆する結果である。また、消防団員自身も、他の団員との会話の中で日頃の防火行動を持続させていることを示唆する結果も得られた。これらは、防火行動が社会的相互作用の中で維持される可能性を示す知見である。2022年度は、さらに、各種の大規模データの整備を進めた。ひとつは研究代表者が過去に実施した一連の大規模郵送調査のデータ整備である。この一連の調査では西日本の広い範囲のデータを複数回に渡って取得しており、この複数回分のデータを整備・連結させる作業を進めた。これにより、地域コミュニティの特徴（e.g., 社会関係資本）の時系列データが分析可能な状態となった。もうひとつは京都府の火災・消防統計の公開データで、分析作業を進められるよう、機械判読可能な状態に整備した。
