A social psychological study on situational determinants of linguistic expressions

本研究旨在从社会心理学的角度探讨语言表达的情景变异。研究方法以实验为主，情境因素为自变量。此外，为了验证这些实验结果的生态效度，还从日常会话录音和新闻报道中收集了使用实例。1.关于感激语的使用，从不同的角度进行了问卷调查。这些结果进行了方差分析和多元回归分析，以调查的影响，使用感谢类型的表达，如Arigato和使用道歉类型的表达，如Sumimasen的情景因素。部分研究结果与我们的英语研究结果进行了比较。2.其他表达对他人的关心的表达方式也被考察了影响其使用的情景因素。这些表达如下：安慰的表达，如五郎之差，大冢之差，太平手种;道歉，如Sumimasen ; 4.在此基础上，结合国内外学者的研究成果，在此基础上，笔者提出了一个解释日语中礼貌用语与情景之间关系的模型，并计划在此基础上，结合日语中礼貌用语的特殊性和普遍性，建立一个日语礼貌用语系统。

The purpose of the research was to investigate situational variations of linguistic expressions from social psychological perspective. Mainly experimental methods were employed ; situational factors were manipulated as independent variables. In addition, in order to confirm the ecological validity of these experimental findings, examples of usage were collected from the recordings of ordinary conversations and from scenarios.1.On the usage of gratitude expressions, questionnaire studies were conducted from various viewpoints. These results were analysed by analyses of variance and by multiple regression analyses in order to investigate the effects of situational factors on the use gratitude type expressions such as Arigato and the use of apology type expressions such as Sumimasen. A part of these results was compared with those of our English studies which were conducted with similar procedures.2.Other expressions used to show consideration for others were also examined with regard to situational factors influencing their usage. These expressions were as follows : consoling expressions such as Gokurosama, Otsukaresama, Taihendeshitane ; apologies such as Sumimasen ; and evaluating expressions such as Sodesu, Iidesu.3.The listener's responses to the variation of expressions were investigated by experimental studies.4.Based on these findings, as well as previous studies by domestic and foreign researchers, a model was proposed to explain the relationship between situations and polite expressions in the Japanese language.In the future research, I plan to develop a system of linguistic politeness in the Japanese language, based on the model proposed above, with its speciality and universality in mind.
