本年度は主に以下の課題にとりくみ、いくつかの成果を得た。①他者理解の理論説の様々なバリエーションについての整理。他者理解のあり方についての 1 つの立場として、他者理解は心と行動についての素朴な理論的知識（素朴心理学）にもとづく推論的過程であるという「理論説」が存在する。理論説は多くの論者によって支持される一方で、それぞれの論者の主張にはいくつものパリエーションがある。本研究は理論説にもとづき他者理解や素朴心理学の本性を解明することを目的とするものであり、理論説論者による様々な議論を改めて整理することが必要であった。そこで、従来の整理（例えば、マーティン・デイヴィス、トニー・ストーンらによるもの）を下敷きにしつつ、理論説を、何を説明対象とするか、科学理論についてどのような見方をとるか、科学理論と素朴心理学とのアナロジーにどの程度コミットするのか、どのような計算論的モデルを措定するか、といった観点から分類整理した。その成果は、博士論文の一部に含める予定である。②他者の心の直接知覚の可能性を認めるようなタイプの理論説の検討。理論説の批判者（ショーン・ギャラガー等）によってしばしば提示される議論として、他者の心は直接知覚可能であり、その把握のために理論的推論は不要であるというものがある。これに対して、ピーター・カラザーズやジェーン・ラヴェルといった理論説論者が理論説の立場から心の直接知覚を説明する議論も存在する。こうした議論や、それに対するギャラガーらによる応答を踏まえて、どのようなタイプの理論説をとれば、心の直接知覚の可能性を認めることができるのか検討した。その結果、心の直接知覚可能性を主張する議論と両立するかたちで、理論説が措定する「理論」や「推論」を捉えることができることを見出した。この成果の一部は、神戸大学大学院人文学研究科におけるワークショップにおいて発表した。
