Expression of brain/embryo-type myosin heavy chain isoform (MIIB2) in the healingprocess of rat hepatitis induced by administration of CCl4 was investigated histochemically and biochemically. Increasing expression of MIIB2 was transiently observed between cell proliferation and maturation (differentiation and reconstruction), suggesting that MIIB2 plays a crucial role in differentiation or reconstruction of damaged tissue. Therefore, it seems that MIIB2 expression is a marker for termination of cell proliferation for repair and regeneration of damaged tissue in the healing process.In the next step of our study, we investigated MIIB2 expression in the healing process of the rat soleus muscle tissue, which was damaged by insertion of an 18G needle or injection of BaC12 solution. However, we could not find substantial increase of MIIB2 expression in the healing process of muscle tissue. It is not clear the reasons responding to the difference between healing processes of the hepatic tissue and the muscle tissue at present.We can say that we have succeeded almost object of our project. Now, we are going to apply the expression of MIIB2 for diagnosis of injury in medico-legal practice.
