项目摘要

本研究は、本棚の構成や並びが人に与える影響に着目し、本棚といういわば汎用情報インターフェースの可能性を学術的に探ろうという研究である。今、世界はコロナ禍にあり、今後もコロナと共存していく「ウィズコロナ」の社会になると言われている。コロナは社会の様々なところで停滞をもたらしているが、社会の情報装置である図書館もまた影響を受けている。長期にわたって閉館を余儀なくされた結果、代替手段のない本棚サービスを解決することは喫緊の課題である。そこで本研究では、新しいかたちの本棚「プロジェクション本棚」を提案する。プロジェクション本棚は、人の記憶や文化、社会、歴史の事象を本棚に投影し、再現する本棚である。ウィズコロナ時代の本棚は、固定的で静的なものから、自由に内容や並びを変更できる動的な本棚に変革が進む。本棚研究は現在芽生え期にあると言え、本棚の認知的影響や構成法など探究すべき事柄は多々あり、挑戦的研究としての意義は大きい。2022年度は本棚研究に関する文献調査を行い、プロジェクション本棚実現に向けて考察を行った。本棚は図書の所有者の記憶装置や記憶の貯蔵庫の役割を備えてきた。したがって、作家・文筆家・編集者の本棚は、彼らの知識や情報に対する独自の世界観が凝縮されている。彼らの蔵書は文学館、図書館、研究機関に寄贈されることがあるが、寄贈時に蔵書が選定されたり、全蔵書が寄贈されるときも図書の並びが変更され、旧所有者の世界観が消えることもあり得る。現代の図書館は情報メディアの多様化によってデジタル図書館へと移行する時期にきている。電子書籍はモノとしての制約がないため、読者の必要性や用途に応じて、重層的・複合的に配列することが可能である。
