フィリピン外交における大戦略について、新興国の外交という側面に注目し、成果の一部をThe politics of grand strategy in an emerging state: a case study on Philippine diplomacy toward Chinaとして、英文の査読付き学術雑誌Journal of Contemporary East Asia Studiesに投稿、掲載された。また、フィリピンの国際主義外交を象徴する国連海洋法条約についての調査を行った。特に、同条約を批准した後、フィリピン政府が作成した群島基線法の制定と、それに関連する外交に注目した。こうした調査を踏まえ、これまでの研究の多くが見過ごしていたフィリピンとインドネシアの間の排他的経済水域の境界画定の事例についての調査を開始した。調査結果の一部をUNCLOS and DFA: Institutional Foundation of the Legal Battleground with Chinaとして、国際会議（Philippine Studies Conference of Japan）において口頭（英語）で報告した。報告に際しては、比較の視点を組み込むことを意図し、アメリカとフィリピンから研究者を招聘し、Thickening and meddling? Multiple Links between the Philippines and Chinaという題で4本の報告からなるパネルを組んだ。中国からの報告者も参加を予定していたものの、中国のコロナ対策の影響で急遽欠席となったが、３名の報告者による口頭報告を実施した。パネル報告者との議論や報告後の議論を踏まえ、英文学術雑誌に投稿する原稿の準備に着手した。
