项目摘要

本年度の大きな研究成果としては、旧制中学校の音楽教育について検討した昨年度までの研究に加え、高等女学校の音楽教育に検討対象を広げたことである。高等女学校においては、その成立初期から学科課程上で音楽科は必修とされており、教科外でも音楽会が定期的に開催されるなど、音楽に非常に力を入れていた。そのような中で、音楽教師は論考の執筆や日々の指導、ときには実際に演奏を披露することを通して、女性にとっての音楽活動の意義を生徒に伝えていた。そして、生徒たちはそのような教師の影響を受けながら、日頃の練習の成果を発揮する音楽会の場で、演奏技術に加え曲想や表現に重きを置きつつ演奏を行っており、さらに、互いの演奏に対する批評や音楽会の様子に関する描写など、音楽活動にかかわる文章表現にも工夫を凝らしていたことが解明された。さらに、1900年代～1920年代の旧制中学校における音楽教育の実態について解明した昨年度の研究に引き続き、1930年代の旧制中学校における音楽教育についても検討を進めた。1925（大正14）年に出された「陸軍現役将校配属令」や、1927（昭和2）年に陸軍軍楽隊隊長の大沼哲が「喇叭鼓隊」という新しい楽器編成を考案したことなどにより、1930年頃から各学校に喇叭が本格的に導入されるようになる。さらに、楽器メーカーがブラスバンドに関わる雑誌の出版事業に乗り出したり、アマチュアの吹奏楽団体を集めた吹奏楽連盟が各地で組織されるなどの動きが起こってくる。上記のような時代状況と喇叭の導入は旧制中学校の音楽教育にも大きな変化をもたらした。喇叭の導入をきっかけに創設された旧制中学校の音楽部は、演習の際だけでなく運動会、遠足等に加え、御親閲式および提灯行列、音楽行進など、校内・校外の様々な行事で演奏を披露していた。また、ラジオなどのメディアとの関連や、演奏レパートリーの変化も見られた。
