This Project aims to generate urgently needed capabilities for cryo elctron microscopy through the newest generation direct electron detector, the Gatan K3 camera. This project expects to generate highest resolution molecular structures of biological and non-biological materials including pharmacological targets, nanomaterials, and other electron beam-sensitive materials. Expected outcomes are high impact discoveries, training opportunities, international collaborations, and publications addressing fundamental questions in biology and pharmaceutical science. This should provide significant benefits in wide ranging areas of nanotechnology, pharmacy, renewable energy, and agriculture.
