MOTTEP--PREVENTING THE NEED

The purpose of this proposed project is to enhance and add balance to our current campaign to increase the number of minority organ and tissue donors by continuing support to and establishing community-based coalition in targeted cities and creating a separate comprehensive and intensive multimedia, multiyear health promotion and disease prevention campaign. This initiative will target young African Americans and Hispanics and is designed to alert the selected target groups about the relationship between hypertension, Diabetes mellitus, End Stage Renal Disease and the subsequent need for organ/tissue transplantation. However, the focus of the campaign will be upon a modification of those lifestyles and high risk activities which correlate with the emergence incidence and progression of these diseases/conditions toward End Stage Renal Disease.
