项目摘要
This proposal requests funds for the acquisition of instruments to
augment the MOLECULAR RESOURCES CORE FACILITY at the University of
Rochester. Specifically, gradient HPLC systems, oligonucleotide
synthesizers, and preparative ultracentrifuges are required to enhance
our present and highly used protein purification and nucleic acid core
laboratories. This request is supported by a primary user group of
THIRTY-ONE investigators and additionally new faculty who comprise a
secondary user group. Appropriate institutional support has been
committed for technical assistance, construction of new core laboratory
facilities, and purchase of required supporting equipment. The facility
is centrally located in the medical center and easily accessed by faculty
and personnel in all of the Medical School departments, and is also used
as the core facility for researchers in the dept. of Biology. The
MOLECULAR RESOURCES CORE i.s staffed by trained technical personnel, and
each component is under the guidance of a faculty member who is an expert
in the area. A facility advisory committee headed by Dr. Abraham, and
comprised of Dr. Barbara Iglewski (chair of Microbiology), Dr. Martin
Gorovsky (chair of Biology) and Dr. Fred Sherman (chair of
Biochemistry), monitors the use and functioning of the facility. The
Molecular Resources Core has served its intended function of forming an
active center for researchers in the medical center and University
departments and has thus far admirably fulfilled its intended function.
