An experiment has been performed at the Legnaro National Laboratory to study the evolution of octupole collectivity at high spins in the radium and thorium nuclei close to A = 220. The data set produced by this experiment contains appreciable numbers of high-fold gamma ray coincidences which has allowed for the isolation of a clean 220 Th signal. Through this data it is hoped that the identification of the 3- state in 220 Th can be made.
