The goal of the Administrative and Biostatistical Core is to facilitate the research aims of all projects and cores of the program project and thereby support the overall objective of evaluating the hypothesis that calpain inhibition is a rational and viable therapeutic target for traumatic brain injury. The Administrative and Biostatistical Core will: Provide strong leadership for the program project and an administrative structure to implement the goals of all projects and cores; Provide biostatistical support for all projects and cores; Coordinate, supervise, and promote integration of the cores and projects; Provide administrative supervision and coordination of all fiscal matters of the program project; Facilitate communication between projects and cores through organized monthly scientific meetings of all investigators; Provide scientific review of accomplishments and future directions by convening meetings of the internal and external advisory committees; Ensure the ethical treatment of animals used in the program project studies by compliance with national and institutional animal welfare guidelines; Fulfill all NIH requirements and regulations including provision of progress and financial reports and an acceptable mechanism for data sharing; and finally to provide a stimulating research environment for the successful conduct and completion of the goals of this program project.
