英文摘要
This thesis will examine the involvement of English Catholic women in the book world of the post-Reformation period, and will investigate the literary networks that linked lay women in England with women religious abroad in exile. It will make use of surviving books and papers from the period to investigate their reading habits, their transnational networks, their participation in the wider European book world and their engagement with the global Catholic Reformation. Women have typically been overlooked in the study of early modern book history; this thesis seeks to re-centre their literary endeavours, as English Catholic women interacted with and furthered the Catholic mission through books.
