This PhD will focus on the development and usage of new single molecule spectroscopic techniques to examine excited state behaviour in organic semiconductor materials. This will be based on time-resolving the photon arrival times and photon statistics of light emission from single molecules and will involve the preparation of single molecule samples and the measurement of them on a confocal fluorescence microscope with tuneable femtosecond excitation and spectrally filtered time-tagged photon detection.
