A Repertorium of Middle English Prose Sermons

This project, a Repertorium of Middle English Prose Sermons (already funded by the AHRC), is part of a broader international project called SERMO: A Repertorium of Unprinted Medieval Vernacular Sermons, whose aim is to produce published reportorial (that is, descriptive and bibliographical entries and summaries) of all extant sermon material in the European vernaculars. This Repertorium, which will appear in multi-volume format of several hundred pages, consists of two sections, manuscript descriptions and sermons, with each being described in a comprehensive range of fields, preceded by an introduction and followed by a bibliography and twelve sets of indices. The present application is being made to enable the Project Director sufficient opportunity to complete these volumes on time and to the highest scholarly standards.
